7-year-old Andrew, 5-year-old Nathan, and 3-year-old Sydney were last seen on October 17, 1995 in the 3100 block of South 600th Street in Greenfield, Indiana. The kids' parents, Steven Slinkard and Trena Faith Slinkard were in the process of a divorce at the time.
Steven wanted joint custody of the kids until he discovered that Trena was planning to take the kids to Texas. Steven applied & won for full custody of the kids and orders that the kids were not allowed to leave Indiana. Afterwards, Trena abducted the children.
A circuit court warrant for violation of a custody order was issued for Trena on January 30, 1996 and an FBI warrant for unlawful flight to avoid prosecution was issued for her on March 26, 1996. Trena and the kids might be in California, Florida, or Mexico. They may be accompanied by Trena's new husband, Miguel Karlin, who is a fugitive from unrelated charges.
Nathan Slinkard walked into the US Consulate in Guadalajara, Mexico, in January, 2014, with proof of his identity and requesting that he be allowed to return to the United States. He has not provided information about where his brother and sister are but says they are aware of the situation and are choosing to remain in hiding. Nathan was reunited with his father on January 24, 2014.
