Rochelle Battle before her Disappearence

Rochelle Battle was last seen in Baltimore Maryland on March 6, 2009. She spoke to her mother on her cellular phone at 10:00 p.m. She said she had taken the subway and a bus to eastern Baltimore county to go to the Eastpoint Mall. She said she was going shopping and told her mother that she would be home soon after. Soon, Rochelle called a female friend to say she was with a "white friend". Authorities believe she wasn't at the mall and was in fact with a friend called "Jason Matthew Gross" a 34 Year old local man with whom she connected with earlier. Cellular phone records place the two together at around the same time at 9:00 p.m.

When Rochelle's mother repeatedly tried to call her later, the phone went to voice mail and then was turned off. Rochelle was never heard or seen from again. Authorities believe she may have taken the bus from the mall to Eastern Boulevard and Old Eastern Avenue between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m. the day of her disappearence

In April 2010, Jason Gross was charged with the murder of Rochelle Battle. He has a prior case record of assault and sex offenses. Authorities believed Gross had killed her at his home because pieces of her clothing were found that lead to the his arrest. At his trial, Gross claimed Rochelle was a prostitute who solicited clients over an adult chat line. He admitted he had arranged to meet her at a nearby bar near his home, but she never showed up. Gross was convicted of Rochelle Battle's murder in October 2011. Rochelle's body was never found. Gross was sentenced to a maximum of 40 years in prison

Foul play is suspected in Rochelle's case due to the circumstances involved.
